Nestled in the forested Thickwood Hills, a 90 minute drive north of Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Lake Savard is a hidden gem. It is completely surrounded by the 1120 acre Carlton Trail Nature and Wildlife Sanctuary, and adjoins a vast tract of natural recreational forest.
The lakeside Carlton Trail Guest Ranch is your perfect hideaway. The turn-of-the-century replica homestead houses have all the comforts of home while giving you a taste for pioneer life: a wood burning stove, burlap curtains decorating the windows, pots and pans hanging on the wall, handmade quilts on the beds. Alternatively, you can stay in our small, well equipped campground.
The homesteads are fully equipped for you to do your own cooking or, if you prefer, our staff will prepare gourmet home-cooked meals. Our small country general store stocks staple items such as flour, sugar, tea, old-fashioned candies, homemade bread and pies, and a selection of hand made quilts and native tanned crafts.
The lodge is hand crafted from western red cedar logs in the “Old Hudson Bay piece on piece” fashion. From the lodge’s dining area you can enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Savard and the rugged and historic Thickwood Hills.
The working ranch of our facility is home to the legendary Texas Longhorn cattle breed. These magnificent animals roam in a natural and chemical-free environment producing lean, tender and healthy organic streaks.
What our guests enjoy most is the chance to experience nature in a beautiful and peaceful setting, but without the hubbub often associated with lakeside resorts.
