The Great Outdoors. Yukon’s Wilderness and Wildlife

A land mass of more than 480,000 square kilometres, more than 80% of Yukon is wilderness.

In amongst all this wilderness is Canada’s most westerly capital city. Known as “the wilderness city” Whitehorse is a vibrant, bustling hub. Its modern hotels and downtown shops are a popular stop before explorers head out to experience pristine wilderness.

Some explore the Yukon on its iconic drives. Legendary highways that go through some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing in the world.

Others hit the water. Yukon is home to 70 pristine rivers and countless cold water lakes that offer world-class paddling and excellent fishing.

Experience is always valuable. Your clients can connect with tour operators who are professional, qualified and licensed specifically for wilderness. They offer various packages, from rented equipment to fully guided trips.
Paved scenic highways bring travellers from BC and Albert and from neighbouring Alaska. Vehicle rentals are available to those who choose to fly to Whitehorse and begin their touring there. Just 2½ hours by air from Vancouver, with flights every day, it’s an excellent option for those keeping an eye on the calendar. Other departure cities include Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna, Yellowknife and Ottawa.

Moraine Lake Lodge - Canadian Rocky Mountains - Alberta

When we began building our Banff lodge twenty years ago we wanted to provide an oasis of calm, an escape from the busy lives people experienced on a daily basis. A place without the intrusion of telephone s and TV was important to us as we designed and built the lodge. Little did we know how technology would impact us. Though we still don’t have television and phones, our one concession is the installation of Wi-Fi.

Our philosophy of enjoying one of the most beautiful places on earth remains unchanged. Hike, breathe the fresh mountain air, rekindle a relationship and create wonderful experiences and lasting memories.

Working in harmony with nature, our luxury Lodge is almost self sufficient. When you turn on your tap, you are experiencing some of the freshest water in the world as it comes directly from an alpine mountain well. We generate our own power and transport all waste safely out of the area. We attempt to reduce, re-use, and recycle wherever possible to protect our precious landscape.

Bear Claw Casino & Hotel - First Nations in Southeast Saskatchewan

Nestled in the scenic Moose Mountains on the White Bear First Nations in southeast Saskatchewan, the Bear Claw Casino is SIGA’s most historic casino. The Bear Claw originally opened in 1993 on the White Bear First Nations near Carlyle SK. It was shut down in what was a highly contentious and emotional part of history between First Nations and the provincial government regarding gaming in Saskatchewan. The casino re-opened in November 1996 and has been successfully operating ever since.

Since the re-opening players have come from all over the province, Manitoba and northern USA for a chance to play in the intimate setting of the casino and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. With 10 RV parking spots, the new outdoor event area and re-opening of the Bear Claw Lodge, the Bear Claw Casino is becoming a true resort destination.
